Episode 81: The Friendship Games
At a duel, Yuma summons Gagaga Girl (1000) in Attack Mode before Ray Shadows interrupts to drag him away. The situation is that Cathy and Tori are arguing and Yuma gets a shoe to the face. It's all because of Ray's suggestion of a cheerleader for their club and considering Tori to be Yuma's girlfriend, causing Cathy to lose her temper. However, Ray realizes that Tori isn't a duelist and thus declares Cathy the cheerleader, which makes Tori angry and thus starting the feud. Yuma tries to intervene but Cathy and Tori aren't listening and not even Rio gets things settled as Cathy doesn't accept Rio as the new cheerleader. It's the chance Girag has been waiting for as he stands behind the doorway. That night, while building his Deck, Yuma assures Astral that their feud will be over the next day. However, things are not resolved as everyone in the group but Yuma hates each other and leaves early.
That evening, Yuma is disappointed about the lack of a duel until Girag suggests a special kind of duel where Yuma must lose against his friends so they'll all be happy. Despite not knowing Girag well and Girag's impromptu lie, Yuma agrees to have the Friendship Games tomorrow. Back at home, while watching his favorite singer, Girag is excited for his new plan but he and Alito have doubts that the other one's plan will work. The next day, the Friendship Games is initiated and in spite of everyone hating their teams, things get underway in the sky where Yuma and Shark defeat Caswell and Flip. Although it seems like the feud won't end, by the time they get tired out, the feuds have stopped.
The finals are decided as Girag notes that female teams get 50 points on top of what they already have (which means that even losing all duels gives them the victory into the finals). The prize he gives them is Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force which he uses to corrupt them away from the others. However, when the finalists arrive, Shark is nowhere to be seen as he'd left out of boredom. Regardless, Girag becomes Yuma's baseball duelist partner and duel preparations get underway. Intent on losing as Girag said, Yuma draws and plays Stinging Swordsman (300) in Attack Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn. Cathy takes her turn by summoning Cat Girl (1200) in Attack Mode and takes out SS with it, leaving Yuma and Girag down to 3100 LPs and Girag is having second thoughts about losing.
Yuma maintains that their opponents' friendship is more important so Girag decides to destroy Barian's Force before the play it and draws. Next he summons Magic Hand (800) in Attack Mode, then sets 2 cards to end his turn. Tori draws and Girag activates Spell Search to let Tori add a Spell Card from her Deck to her hand instead of drawing and she chooses Barian's Force. However, Girag knew this and uses MH's effect to destroy Barian's Force since it was added from the Deck to the hand. Yuma suggests using his own Memory Loss card and Girag does, negating MH's effect and switching it to Defense Mode. (The real card only affects an opponent's Attack Position monster.) Tori resumes her turn by summoning Little Fairy (800) in Attack Mode. Next, she uses its effect to discard 1 card (Icarus Attack) and raise its Level by 1 to Level 4. Then she uses it and Catgirl as Xyz Material for Fairy Cheer Girl (1900) in Attack Mode.
Rio and Astral pick up on something but it all becomes clear after Tori uses FCG's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to draw 1 card. Then she uses Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force to use FCG as Xyz Material for Chaos Xyz Dark Fairy Cheer Girl (CXyz Dark Fairy Cheer Girl in the CG) (2500) in Attack Mode. Her attack takes out MH before Tori uses its effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to deal them 500 damage per card in her hand. As a result, Yuma and Girag take 2000 damage to leave them on the ground and down to 1100 LPs. (The real card deals 400 damage for each card in your hand.) Realizing they need to win, Yuma draws and summons Gagaga Girl in Attack Mode. Next he uses Level Lifter to discard 1 card (Gagaga Magician) and make GG's Level the discarded monster's Level, making it Level 4. (The real Level Lifter affects 2 monsters.) After that, he uses Monster Reborn to revive Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode and uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode.
Since their ATK points are equal, Yuma uses GG's effect to make DFCG's ATK 0 since GG was Xyz Material with another Gagaga monster. As a bonus, Yuma activates Girag's Hand Power card to banish MH from the Graveyard and double Utopia's ATK to 5000. His attack takes out DFCG to win the duel and save Girag Cathy. Cathy and Tori don't remember the duel but Girag is nowhere to be found and Yuma is faced with a duel he isn't ready to face yet.
