Episode 44: Rock and a Hard Place
At the duel, Kite and Yuma have won and Kite demands to know where his brother is. When Quattro fakes memory loss, Kite tries to steal his soul but fails due to the mark on Quattro's hand. Astral tries his luck on Trey but gets the same result and Trey sees Astral for the first time. Despite Kite's demands, Vetrix appears and takes Trey and Quattro way. Qunton appears and delivers Hart to Kite but there's very little life left as Quinton says explaining it is best left for another time. What he does share is that Hart gave the last ounce of his strength to Kite. Yuma wants answers and Quinton says Yuma's father is not only alive but in Astral World.
Outside, Yuma analyzes what he's learned so far and realizes that it's a lose-lose situation until he decides to do it one at a time and races to get into Astral World. Meanwhile, Kite races to catch up as Hart is taken away and is cut-off by the door and eventually Nistro. Dextra notes that there's nothing Kite can do anyway and the trio discuss the matter of Yuma Tsukumo and his Number card. Nistro wants to take care of it but Kite warns not to interfere or bad things will happen. Beyond the door, as Dr. Faker looks on, Mr. Heartland explains what happened. Elsewhere, Yuma gets back into his room and stocks a bag with stuff.
Even though he doesn't know how to get to Astral World, Yuma is going to follow his dad's path to the edge of the world. He gets out but runs into Kari, Tori and his grandma, whom already know why Yuma is heading out and despite Kari saying know, Yuma leaps off the steps to the ground below and races off. However, Roku is in the way and challenges Yuma to a duel to prove he's worth doing what he's about to do. After duel preparations get underway, the duo get ready to duel while Vetrix plays with his new powers. Back at the duel, it's Yuma's turn and Yuma has 3800 LPs. Yuma plays Gagaga Girl (1000) in Attack Mode.
However, Roku is down to 500 LPs and has a Set monster and a Spell or Trap Card so Yuma attacks and activates Roku's hidden Mirror Force to lose all his monsters since they're all in Attack Position. Yuma ends his turn so Roku draws and Flip Summons his hidden Queen's Knight (1500) to Attack Mode. Next he plays King's Knight (1600) in Attack Mode, triggering its effect to Special Summon Jack's Knight (1900) from his Deck in Attack Mode. Then he uses Polymerization to send them to the Graveyard for Arcana Knight Joker (3800) in Attack Mode. His direct attack wins him the duel (though you could've just left the three monsters out and still won by attacking directly with them). Yuma wants to duel again but is declined a rematch.
Yuma doesn't know what to do next and Roku notes the flaw in running away from all that he cares about. It's enough for Yuma to change his mind and take things one step at a time. Back inside, Vetrix struggles to master the power he's acquired but manages to succeed and will soon ruin Dr. Faker with that same power. Later that night, Yuma asks Roku what he knows about Mr. Heartland but all Roku knows is that Mr. Heartland is a front for a bigger individual. He also shares about Dr. Faker, whom people know little about and that's probably how Dr. Faker wants it (though we know he's still there). Furthermore, Yuma's grandma adds a bit more of the story. At the same time, Vetrix is learning about Yuma and his original Number card and is in total disbelief.
While Trey ponders about Astral, Yuma struggles to improve his dueling skills while Roku sleeps. Yuma's mind is made up regarding his cards but they need one for Roku's snoring.
