Episode 45: Ruffled Feathers
Inside Mr. Heartland's office, Nistro and Dextra request entry into the Duel Carnival, even if that means giving up their current duties. Mr. Heartland accepts and is assured he won't regret it. As they proceed away, Nistro is confident he'll win with his own Deck rather than the one Mr. Heartland gave him. They have to win all five Heart Pieces in one day but those are Nistro's kind of odds. Elsewhere, Yuma learns that Roku returned to the sanctuary to see a student and is glad Yuma is returned to dueling. It doesn't make Yuma feel any better until Lillybot arrives with food and an insult. Yuma heads out and finds all his friends waiting for him, including Caswell, whom is still in a cast for his arm. They head out and Yuma needs to defeat one more challenger to make it to the Finals and time is running out.
The group splits up and Flip finds himself between Dextra and Nistro after they win but aren't finding their opponents all that challenging. Their concentration is interrupted by a cheering crowd as Nelson Andrews takes out his latest opponent before resuming autographs for his fans and Nistro calls Nelson out. The duo get prepared to duel for their 4th Heart Piece and Yuma's friends arrive to see the duel in progress with Nelson at 3400 LPs and Nistro at 3000 LPs. Nelson plays Ironhammer the Giant (3500) in Defense Mode since he controls its friends. While the group converse, Nelson attacks one of Nistro's Heroic Challenger monsters but Nistro uses its effect to combine their ATKs to 4800. (The real card only gains ATK equal to the ATK of 1 other Heroic monster.)
However, Nelson is ready with Change to Jet Iron to Tribute his monsters for Dimensional Jet Iron (D.D. Jet Iron in the CG) with an ATK equal to the ATKs of the Tributed monsters, giving it 8000 ATK. (The real card's ATK is 4000.) His attack prompts Nistro to activate Heroic Guard to Tribute 1 monster and reduce the Battle Damage by its ATK, leaving him down by 1600 to 1400 LPs. Furthermore, he activates Heroic Retribution Sword to equip it to one of his Heroic Challenger Spartans and should it battle the monster that destroyed his Heroic Challenger, the other monster will be destroyed and Nelson will take its ATK as damage.
Once again, Nelson is ready and uses DJI's effect to Tribute itself and Special Summon Beast-Warrior Puma (1600), Ironhammer the Giant, Esper Star Sparrow (3000) and Phoenix Beast Gairuda (2500) in Attack Mode. Due to PBG's effect, Nelson draws 1 card, then ends his turn. Nistro draws and Tributes HCS for Heroic Challenger - War Hammer (2100) in Attack Mode. His attack takes out BWP to leave Nelson on the ground and down to 2900 LPs. Worse still, HCWH now is equipped with BWP and gains its ATK, putting it up to 3700. Nistro sets 1 card to end his turn and Nelson thinks back to his duel with Yuma, wondering what to do.
He draws and uses Galaxy Queen's Light to make his other monsters the Level of ESS, making them Level 10. Next he uses them as Xyz Material for Superdimensional Robot Galaxy Destroyer (5000) in Attack Mode. Dextra figures Nistro is ready to destroy Galaxy Destroyer with Sakuretsu Armor but Nelson is prepared and uses SRGD's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to destroy all Spell and Trap Cards Nistro controls, returning War Hammer's ATK to 2100. His attack forces Nistro to discard Heroic Challenger - Swordshield to reduce the Battle Damage to 0 and make his LPs 100 since he would take at least 2000 points of battle damage. (The real card prevents your monsters' destruction in battle and reduces your Battle Damage to 0 that turn.)
The group aren't worried but Nistro draws and summons Heroic Challenger - Double Lance (1700) in Attack Mode. Since it counts as 2 Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon, Nistro uses it as Xyz Material for Heroic Champion - Excalibur (2000) in Attack Mode. (The real HCDL Special Summons another copy of itself in Defense Mode when it's Normal Summoned.) Next he uses HCE's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to double its ATK to 4000. (The real card requires you to detach 2 Xyz Materials to use this effect.) Since it's not enough, Nistro activates Heroic Chance to double its ATK again (since his LPs are 500 or less but they don't tell you that but the real card works on any Heroic monster and doesn't care about anything else in the duel) to 8000. His attack destroys SRGD to win the duel.
Yuma and others rush over and Nelson explains that he's in costume in hopes of distracting the opponent. Nistro and Nelson compliment each other before Nistro gets his deserved Heart Piece and advises Yuma to make the finals for their rematch. It was Yuma's spirit that kept Nelson in the duel and he walks away with his fangirls following. Since he's Nelson's hero, the fangirls are his!
