Episode 15: Training Days (1)
Inside his room, Yuma and Astral recall what happened in their duel with Kite and Astral is so deep in thought that he doesn't notice Yuma falling on the floor after dozing off. However, Bronk and Tori arrive and show Yuma of the World Duel Carnival coming up. Before Yuma has time to process it all, his grandma appears with a request to take a heavy load to an old friend of hers that is out of town. Yuma refuses but his grandma makes sure he changes his mind. It's nearly dusk when Yuma catches up with his friends but they aren't done yet and Yuma gets extra energy to keep going. They all eventually make it to the top and encounter whom they're looking for and so does he, revealing himself as Roku or Master Roku to them.
While Kari and Yuma's grandma converse about Yuma's dueling habits, Roku requests the group to clean up as the note indicated they'd do whatever he asked. While cleaning, Yuma encounters a room of statues that are each of a legendary monster. Bronk and Tori are also amazed, especially when Roku explains that the statues are made in honor of each student that leaves his teachings. Furthermore, they come to life during a duel and Yuma agrees to duel and find out. After duel preparations get underway, each of them gets 2 statues with Roku getting Blue-Eyes Statue Dragon and Red-Eyes Statue Dragon while Yuma has Statue Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. However, their ATKs are all 0 and they cannot attack. Plus they're using Decks Roku created himself.
Astral realizes that Yuma can make the statues come to life and Roku is about to take it easy but Yuma draws and activates Statue Zone, feeing all monsters from their statue prisons and returning their ATKs to normal. His attack with DM takes out REBD to leave Roku down to 3900. Nevertheless, Roku gives Yuma a riddle and when Yuma can't figure it out, he's placed inside Statue Dark Magician. Furthermore, Roku draws and uses Polymerization to send his 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons to the Grave (not use them from the Graveyard as he says from 12:09 to 12:13 into the US episode) for Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4500) in Attack Mode. His attack takes out SDMG to leave Yuma down to 1500 LPs. Next he uses De-Fusion to swap BEUD for 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons (3000) in Attack Mode and attacks to win the duel.
Yuma has come to realize that monsters feel the same pressure duelists do when confronted with powerful forces and once he can master his fear, he can move a monster. The next day, Yuma is too busy cleaning statues to come with the group to see a movie and instead, Tori goes to make breakfast while Bronk lazes about. Yuma comes across a damaged statue and Roku isn't that proud of it and walks outside where he knows that Yuma is good and will one day shine unlike another person of his that ends up greeting him shortly after. Inside, the group reside until the doors open and Roku reveals that he's not in good shape and Yuma is with Kaze, a former student of his, the same one that damaged the statue.
Just as Kaze is about to attack another statue, Yuma intervenes and is tossed aside. The duo agree to duel and after duel preparations take place, Astral joins Yuma as he too has much to learn before Yuma draws and plays Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode. Next he sets 1 card to end his turn. Unimpressed, Kaza draws and summons Flame Armor Ninja (1700) in Attack Mode. Then he uses Armor Ninjitsu Art of Teleportation to bring out Air Armor Ninja (1400) in Attack Mode. Now he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Blade Armor Ninja (2200) in Attack Mode. His attack prompts Yuma to activate Gagaga Shield to prevent his monster's destruction but if used twice, the card is destroyed, leaving Yuma down to 3300 LPs.
Hoever, Kaze uses BAN's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to let it attack again, and since Yuma prevents GM's destruction again, GS is destroyed but Yuma is down to 2600 LPs. Yuma protects his monsters like they protect him but it'll be his undoing!
