Episode 16: Training Days (2)
At the duel, Kaze proclaims that he'll have the Deck once he defeats Yuma but Yuma isn't about to let that happen and Kaze sets 2 cards to end his turn. Tori asks how good Kaze was and Roku says he was the best student he ever had until he was corrupted by the darkness. Yuma draws and Normal Summons Dododo Warrior (2300) in Attack Mode without Tributes by  its effect, reducing its ATK by 500 to 1800, leaving all but Astral to question why such a move was made. Next, Yuma uses Full-Force Strike to reduce Battle Damage to either of them to 0 and destroy Blade Armor Ninja when DW attacks. However, Kaze activates Armor Ninjitsu Art of Freezing to negate the attack and prevent either of Yuma's monsters from changing battle positions since he himself controls a Ninja monster. With noting else left to do, Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn so Kaze draws and activates Spy Attack discard Aqua Armor Ninja to see Yuma's hidden card.
Just then, Yuma's grandma and Kari arrive but Kari isn't thrilled that Yuma is dueling so Roku calms her down. Kaze finds it fitting to have Yuma's family there to watch Yuma lose and attacks to leave Yuma defenseless and down to 1500 LPs. Worse still, Kaze knows Yuma's hidden card is Gagagaback, which Yuma can use to revive his Gagaga monsters for 600 LPs each but Bronk advises not to use it. Nevertheless, Kaze activates Armor Ninjitsu Art of Rust Mist to halve the ATK of all of Yuma's monsters while he himself has a Ninja monster out. (The real card can't be activated unless your opponent Special Summons.)
Since Kaze believes that everyone sacrifices friends to save themselves, Yuma activates Gagagaback to revive Gagaga Magician (1500) and Dododo Warrior in Attack Mode for 1200 LPs, bringing him down to 300. Since they were Summoned, Rust Mist halves their ATKs to 750 and 1150. After another argument, Yuma activates Gagagabolt to destroy BAN, then attacks directly with his monsters, bringing Kaze down to 3250 but before the 2nd attack connects, Kaze activates Aqua Armor Ninja's effect from the Graveyard to remove itself from play and negate the attack. However, due to DW's effect, it negates all effects when it attacks. (The real card only negates effects in the Graveyard.) As a result, DW's ATK returns to normal and the attack connects to bring Kaze down to 950 LPs.
Kaze remains unconvinced by Yuma's words and Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn. Kaze then draws and uses Armor Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy (though he doesn't say this is what it is) to destroy his Ninjitsu Art cards and draw 2 cards. Next he Special Summons Earth Armor Nijna (1600) in Attack Mode since only Yuma has monsters out. Next he uses Armor Ninjitsu Art of Revival to revive Flame Armor Ninja (1700) in Attack Mode. Due to FAN's effect, Kaze makes its Level increase by 1 to Level 5. Next, he reveals that he has a Number and uses his monsters as Xyz Material to play Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja (2400) in Attack Mode. It's the monster possessing Kaze and Kaze attacks with it but Yuma activates Guts Guard to make DW the attack target and prevent its destruction in battle, bringing Yuma down to 200 LPs.
Yuma's grandma figures Duel Fuel is in order and Tori gets on it while Kaze taunts Yuma more. Tori returns just as Yuma gets a pep talk from Astral and Yuma draws. Next, he uses Decrease to make DW's Level drop by 2 to Level 4. Then he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode and takes out Number 12 with its attack, leaving Kaze down to 850 LPs. However, due to Number 12's effect, its destruction is prevented as Kaze detaches an Xyz Material. Regardless, Yuma uses Revenge Attack to give Utopia 1000 ATK to 3500 and let it attack again since Number 12 wasn't destroyed in battle. The 2nd attack wins Yuma the duel before Astral frees Kaze from Number 12's grip by absorbing the number.
Everyone discusses the duel until Kaze gets up and attacks the Neos statue again but Yuma gets in in the way and learns what's making Kaze so angry even after being freed. Kaze doesn't know how to trust anyone but Roku assures it's never too late to start learning how. That evening, Roku says Kaze will continue his training and after Kari agrees to let Yuma duel whenever he wants, Roku hands Yuma the legendary deck, confident the monsters and Yuma will get along nicely. It's a boost Yuma can use for the World Duel Carnival but Astral is busy in Astral World, noting that while Yuma has his confidence back, he himself must work on it if they are to defeat Kite.
