Episode 14: The Number Hunter (2)
At the duel, Yuma is staring down two Number monsters Kite summoned in the same turn and Astral realizes that not only is Kite a force to be reckoned with but he's not possessed by either Number. With nothing else left to do, Kite ends his turn and reminds Orbital of game rules. Yuma draws and sets a monster for his turn so Kite draws and uses Illumiknight's effect to detach an Xyz Material and send 1 card in his hand to the Graveyard to draw 1 card. Next he uses Giga-Brilliant's effect to detach an Xyz Material from it to give itself 300 ATK to 2100. His first attack with Giga-Brilliant reveals but doesn't destroy Yuma's Gogogo Golem (1500) in Defense Mode due to GG's effect. the 2nd attack takes out GG to leave Yuma defenseless.
However, Yuma isn't as safe as he thinks because Kite tributes his monsters for Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode. Since Kite is done, Yuma draws, knowing that only Utopia stands a chance (well not exactly because Number 17 has probably a better chance since it can gain ATK) against GEPD and draws before playing Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Monster Slots to remove from play the GG in his Grave, then draw 1 card and if its Level equals GG's Level, Yuma can Special Summon it. He gets and summons Ganbara Knight (0000) in Attack Mode. Now he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode and Kite is pleased.
Meanwhile, Dr. Faker approves of Mr. Heartland's plan of a World Duel Carnival and the sooner it is initiated the better for Dr. Faker has plans to harness the Numbers' powers and Hart is loving all the energy he's getting. Back at the duel, Yuma is willing to find out what GEPD can do and plays Blustering Winds to give Utopia 1000 ATK and DEF to 3500 and 3000 respectively until his next turn. His attack activates GEPD's effect to remove both monsters from play. When Yuma ends his turn, both monsters return and since Utopia is an Xyz Monster, GEPD steals the Xyz Materials and gains 500 ATK for each one, raising its ATK to 4000. Orbital's confidence gets the better of him as he reveals to Yuma about what happens should Yuma lose.
Since the secret is out, Kite shares a bit more of what happens to the loser and doesn't care where the loser's soul goes but Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn. Kite draws and attacks Utopia with GEPD, leaving Yuma down to 2500 LPs. Next, he uses Photon Wind to deal Yuma 1000 damage since he dealt damage to Yuma without destroying Utopia, bringing Yuma's score down to 1500 LPs and letting Kite draw 1 card. Next, Kite sets 1 card to end his turn. Yuma struggles to draw, then eventually does so and has one idea in mind but Astral convinces him otherwise and Yuma recalls the last time he had this sort of situation and how it was resolved.
It's enough to give him the confidence he needs to play Zubaba Knight (1600) in Attack Mode. Next he activates Copy Knight, which becomes an exact copy of ZK without its ATK or effects. Then he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 17: Leviathan Dragon (2000) in Attack Mode. After that, he uses Number 17's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to give it 500 ATK to 2500. Now he uses Cross Attack to permit only Utopia to attack and let it attack directly. In response to the direct attack, Kite activates Luminize to negate the attack and give GEPD ATK equal to Utopia's ATK, raising its ATK to 6500. Yuma is out of options but Astral convinces him to set the last card in his hand to end his turn.
While Hart continues to take in energy and thus get on the breaking point, Kite draws and plays Photon Cerberus (1300) in Attack Mode and due to its effect, Yuma cannot activate Trap Cards this turn. Just when Kite is about to attack, Hart loses all consciousness and Kite abandons the duel. Kite and Orbital depart, leaving time to resume normally and Tori ends up safe. When it comes to feeling the flow, Yuma doesn't have what it takes after all. He let both himself and Astral down!
