Episode 13: The Number Hunter (1)
At the mall, news is spreading as everyone is being held captive. A Litterbot drops from above and ends up worse for wear as we see who's behind this and he means business. Kari breaks Yuma's train of thought to scold him for being at the mall instead of doing his homework and needs a scoop. Astral appears and points out that the bandit has a Number card and Yuma scopes out a better look. Meanwhile, a kid and his robot are watching from above when the kid says to start the Number Hunt. Yuma races up the stairs in time to see the kid and his robot land to demand a duel as time is frozen. The thug accepts and the other kid undergoes the Photon Transformation before Astral informs Yuma of the Number Duel. At the duel, time passes before the thug gets out Number 56: Gold Rat and the other individual Summons Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to win the duel.
By the time Yuma arrives, the kid has claimed Number 56 already and is heading out. Unfortunately, that means time resumes and Yuma is accused of the charges the thug was supposed to get. At the giant landfill of sorts where garbage and Litterbots reside, a younger kid undergoes a darker transformation that causes massive amounts of energy to be released. Meanwhile, the individual, revealed as Kite, returns and his robot Orbital reports that they have 11 numbers now. His boss of sorts assures that they're just speeding up the aging process and Kite's brother will be fine once all the Number cards are captured. Kite leaves before his boss converses with whom is revealed to be Dr. Faker about their master plan involving Heartland City.
Back at home, Kari learns of what happened but she wanted Yuma to get the story not be a part of it and catches Yuma talking about dueling without being the least bit thrilled. Elsewhere, Kite checks up on his little brother, revealed as Hart, whom shows no interest in taking part in the fair as he doesn't remember liking virtually anything. Kite vows to make Hart see how much he truly liked and comforts Hart while Yuma and Astral strategize on how to tackle the Number Hunter problem. The next day at school, Bronk mentions a place where lots of dueling fun can be had and Tori agrees if Yuma buys lunch. That evening, Tori and Yuma discuss how poorly Yuma was dueling before Astral senses danger.
Rain begins to fall as Yuma and Tori race to get out of the rain but Tori can't quite make it across and Yuma intercepts. However, time has stopped again, or at least slowed down drastically as Kite and Orbital have appeared to explain things. Astral advises them to leave but Kite traps them where they are and forces them to duel. Duel preparations get underway before Kite draws and plays Photon Veil to shuffle 3 LIGHT monsters in his hand into his Deck, then add 3 from his Deck to his hand (as they all have to be the same name if 3 are added but they don't tell you that). Next he plays Photon Lead to Special Summon Daybreaker (1700) in Attack Mode. Due to its effect, Kite plays a 2nd Daybreaker, then a third Daybreaker by the 2nd Daybreaker's effect.
Now he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 10: Illuminknight (2400) in Attack Mode. After that, he uses Number 10's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to discard 1 card, then draw 1 card. Since he discarded Lightserpent, he Special Summons it from the Graveyard (1200) in Attack Mode. Next he summons Plasma Ball (900) in Attack Mode and uses it and Lightserpent as Xyz Material for Number 20: Giga-Brilliant (1800) in Attack Mode. The hunt is now really about to begin!
