Other than Xyz or Synchro Material, he's just like the toy itself: Doesn't last long or do much. Enough DEF to stand up to most opening Monster Card plays but even that doesn't make it that playable. Even in the Banished Fish decks it isn't going to get that much of a boost unless it's late in the game and with a mere 1700 ATK, this soldier will likely get demoted. Why not instead go with Enraged Battle Ox or Spear Dragon since neither of those leave your field after inflicting Piercing Battle Damage?

His method isn't optional like I first thought but it's not hard to pull off and you can bring him back later with a permanent Shield & Sword effect! Ignoring the pretty bad effect and you've got a strong start to your turn of the duel! You can bring out another copy of itself to the field to trigger later on but it can't be used more than once or on its own effect. It'll have to survive the attack in order to activate its once-per-time-on-the-field effect but Ally of Justice Catastor does the same for just about any monster and works more than once.

Although a strong Level 6 monster, he can't be Special Summoned and your Tributes must be WATER. It doesn't get any weaker for a monster that can search for other parts but he's got some DEF to survive if you can get his Battle Position changed. The only good thing he does is bring out the last component to for Super Crashbug, whom I have since mentally lowered its rating and you'll see why. Same as GENF-EN010's comments.

He'll save your LPs by sacrificing his ability to survive an attack but at least he has Marauding Captain's first effect. It's that side-effect that activates at the end of the Battle Phase that lowers this card's rating but I suppose there's that RFG Fish deck he can swim in. Even though he has to be Normal Summoned to trigger his effect, you can change his Battle Position afterwards to spare your LPs. Raging Flame Sprite's aquatic cousin that sacrificed its DEF for more ATK but kept the ability to permanently gain 1000 ATK with each direct attack.

It'll stop cards that either destroy Xyz Monsters or target them by other means like Book of Moon but offers nothing against Smashing Ground and the like. The era of annoying and redundant card names begins with this card and really he's just literally Xyz Material since you can't use him as Synchro Material and he has poor stats. He can run over most T.G. non-Synchro monsters or survive the first assault if attacked while in Defense Mode! Well the name is as poor as his effect and stats, fitting for anywhere you dispose of your unwanted cards but with a name that bad, I don't think you want to have him as a bookmark.
