Episode 145: Outclassed and Outmatched
At the duel, as Yuma remains only partially standing, Astral considers Yuma's decision to duel to be a very bad one but draws and plays Xyz Treasure to draw 5 cards, one for each Xyz Monster out. Then he sets 3 cards to end his turn. As the group watch on, they realize how outmatched Yuma really is. However, in spite of all that he's gone through and what he's up against, Yuma laughs and rises to his feet, having seen his own monsters from the front for the first time (though they were seen from the front in your duels with Flip Turner and Don Thousand, Yuma) and finds them more awesome and intimidating than he ever imagined. After Tori gives further words of encouragement, Yuma draws and plays his own Xyz Treasure to draw 5 cards since there are 5 Xyz Monsters out. Next, he summons Gagaga Mancer (100) in Attack Mode, letting him revive Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode from his Graveyard.
Then, he does not follow Astral's hunch and activates Gagagamrage to have each Gagaga monster he has count as 2 Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon (and ignore type and Attribute requirements where necessary but they don't tell you that, though you do see this happen). With that, he uses Gagaga Mancer as Xyz Material for Gagaga Cowboy (1500) in Attack Mode. After that, he uses Gagaga Magician as Xyz Material for Gagaga Samurai (1900) in Attack Mode. Now, he uses GS' effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and let each of his monsters attack twice. (The real card can only attack twice regardless of the number of monsters you have out.) With 4 attacks coming Astral's way, Yuma acitvates GC's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, then raise its ATK by 1000 to 2500 and lower the other monster's ATK by 500 when it battles but Astral is aware of this and already has a defense against it with Utopia Beyond's effect, preventing his monsters from being affected by Yuma's. (The real Utopia Beyond doesn't have this effect.)
Since it's not enough, Yuma activates Gagaga Mancer's effect from the Graveyard to remove itself from play and give GC 500 ATK to 3000. (The real card must be detached from an Xyz Monster and sent there to be able to activate the effect, which it was here.) His attacks take out Utopia Ray and Utopia Ray V to leave Astral down to 4350 LPs (as Special Summoning those monsters with Grave Chaos and Dark Force negated their effects but that wasn't mentioned when they were Summoned that way in the previous episode). Even Quinton, Trey and Quattro are impressed but Astral finds it a minor setback until Yuma brings up that he's not done yet. To continue his turn, Yuma activates Gagaga Mirror Slash to transform one of his monsters into one of Astral's, (including to gain its ATK but they don't tell you that, though it is shown) prevent its destruction in battle and should it destroy one of Astral's monsters, Astral will take damage equal to his destroyed monster's ATK. Yuma chooses Gagaga Samurai to become Utopia Beyond enabling it to destroy Astral's real Utopia Beyond, leaving Astral down to 1350.
Now, Yuma moves to Utopia Ray Victory, giving GS 2800 ATK.
However, Astral activates Heat & Heal to gain LPs equal to the ATK of the Xyz Monster he controls with the lowest Rank, giving him 2500 LPs to 3850 just before the attack hits and brings him down to 1050. Astral eventually gets up, noting that H and H becomes Xyz Material for Utopia, then realizes how careless he'd been and that Yuma knew about the summoning of all 5 Utopias well in advance. Perhaps Yuma can convince Astral to stop his plan to destroy Barian World, even with slim odds. Try and Quattro realize something is up with Astral and Quinton figures out that it's probably about destroying Astral World but Trey refuses to believe it as Yuma wouldn't allow it but that's why Yuma is involved in the duel. Yuma sets 3 cards to end his turn, returning GC's ATK to normal. Astral draws and attacks GC with Utopia byt Yuma responds with Half Unbreak to halve the Battle Damage he takes and prevent his monster's destruction in battle. Astral isn't phased and activates Absolute Buster to negate HU's effect that prevents destruction.
The attack continues, destroying GC and leaving Yuma on the ground and down to 900 LPs. Astral is always 10 steps ahead of Yuma and Yuma won't survive much longer so Astral sets 3 cards to end his turn. Yuma gazes up at Utopia, remembering when he first Summoned it and it was always there for him until now and Yuma has no choice but to fight it and draws. Next he plays Gagagarevenge to revive Gagaga Cowboy (1500) in Attack Mode. Then, in a shocking move, Yuma attacks Utopia with his weaker GC. Only Astral figures it out and uses Utopia's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and negate the attack. Once again, Yuma expected this and activates Light Wing Bumper to negate Utopia's effects and lower its ATK by 800 to 1700 since it negated an attack. Had Astral not negated the attack, he would've one and instead was outplayed. Worse still, Yuma takes out the weakened Utopia, leaving Astral down to 850 LPs. It's a move Astral had expected from Yuma and Yuma just wishes nothing was at stake.
Dueling always seems to have something on the line but isn't that the only way Astral could get Yuma to duel him? Regardless, Astral activates Rank-Down-Magic Utopia Fall to use Utopia from the Graveyard as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia Roots (500) in Attack Mode. All Yuma can figure is that Astral wanted the monster and sets 1 card to end his turn. Astral draws and equips Utopia Roots with Number Fortification, raising its ATK by 1500 to 2000, then attach 2 Xyz Monsters from his Extra Deck to Utopia Roots as Xyz Materials like Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon and Number 32: Shark Drake as a reminder of something Yuma has lost in his most recent duels and Astral hopes Yuma finds out what that is through this duel. His attack forces Yuma to activate GS' other effect to switch itself to Defense Mode and make it the attack target. However, Astral activates Rank Revolution to negate the effects of all other Xyz Monsters whose Rank is equal to or higher than Utopia Roots' Rank 1. (Actually it only affects Xyz Monsters whose Rank is higher.)
As a result, Astral's original planned attack continues, destroying GC and leaving Yuma on the ground and down to 400 LPs. Astral isn't done yet and activates Overlay Accel to let Utopia Roots attack again by detaching an Xyz Material from itself. His 2nd attack takes out GS, leaving Yuma down to 300 LPs. Astral hoped to have Yuma find out what he lost but it doesn't seem like it was going to happen and Yuma ponders what that meant.
