Episode 76: Hard Knox
Outside, Yuma and Bronk are once again in a race and Yuma questions why he always gives Bronk the win by letting him use a skateboard. As a result, Yuma trips over a cat and loses. Worse still, another individual crashes into him, revealing to be a big fan and recognizes Yuma immediately. Since Yuma is late, the individual, revealed as Ray, decides to get Yuma to school his way. After a maze of various obstacles, Yuma and Ray arrive and Yuma is given a special introduction without anyone knowing who Ray is. It's Ray's first day and he and Yuma are 20 minutes late, giving Yuma a week's detention. While Yuma eats, a commotion interrupts their conversation and Bronk and Caswell know that it's Devon Knox having his duel class down below.
Later, Devon attacks directly with a 7800 ATK Armed Samurai - Ben Kei to win. He agrees to sign photographs later as a compensation prize but decides to get some lunch. Yuma would love to duel Devon and Ray is only too happy to help. However, in the locker room, Girag arrives to show Devon a Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force card to sign instead and once Ray finds Devon, we can see that Devon is not himself, especially when the name Yuma Tsukumo comes up. The duo get into a duel where Ray eventually loses and combined with the mark of Barian World, it's all the proof Yuma needs to initiate duel preparations. Once they're complete, Yuma draws and uses Three Card Summon to Special Summon Rai Rider (1200) in Attack Mode since he has 3 Level 3 monsters in his hand.
Next he summons Zubaba Knight (1600) in Attack Mode. Then, since has a Level 3 monster out, he Special Summons Mimimic (300) in Attack Mode. With that done, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 34: Terror-Byte (2900) in Defense Mode and sets 1 card to end his turn. Devon isn't afraid and draws before activating Training Grounds, a Field Spell that lets him discard 2 monsters from his hand and Normal Summon Coach Captain Bearman (2600) in Attack Mode without Tributing. Next he uses Bear's Boot Camp to Special Summon Coach Soldier Wolfbark (1600) in Attack Mode. Due to Wolfbark's effect, Devon revives a 2nd copy of itself. Due to Bearman's effect, Devon makes his Wolfbarks' Levels become 8.
After that, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Coach King Giantrainer (2800) in Attack Mode. Worse still, Devon uses Giantrainer's effect three times but doesn't win the third time, leaving Yuma down to 2400 and himself down to 3200 LPs. Devon isn't done as he uses Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force to uses Giantrainer as Xyz Material for Chaos Xyz Coach Lord Ultimatrainer (CXyz Coach Lord Ultimatrainer in the CG) (3800) in Attack Mode. Due to Barian's Force's effect, Ultimatrainer gets Terror-Byte's Xyz Materials, giving it 4. Next, Devon takes out Number 34 with Ultimatrainer's attack, then uses Ultimatrainer's effect 4 times to make Yuma draw 4 cards and take damage equal to the ATK of any Level 4 or lower monsters he draws. (The real card forces only you to draw 1 and can only use the effect once per turn.)
Once Yuma gets down to 100 LPs, Ray wants the duel stopped but Yuma and Devon insist on continuing. Yuma's last draw gets him a Level 3 monster with 0 ATK, Dotedotengu, and since it was sent to the Graveyard by Ultimatrainer's effect, Yuma uses its effect to send Ultimatrainer back to Devon's hand but due to Ultimatrainer's effect, Devon makes it unaffected by Dotedotengu's effect. In response, Yuma activates Panic Burial to deal Devon 100 damage per monster sent to his own Graveyard and lower Ultimatrainer's ATK by the same amount. With 18 monsters in the Graveyard, Devon takes 1800 damage and Ultimatrainer loses 1800 ATK, bringing Devon down to 1400 LPs and Ultimatrainer down to 2000 ATK.
Since Devon ends his turn, Yuma draws and summons Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Gagaga x Gagaga to make it a 2nd copy of Gagaga Magician. Then he uses both  monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode, then uses Utopia as Xyz Material for Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray (" ") (2500) in Attack Mode. After that, he uses Utopia Ray's; effect 3 times, to give itself 1500 more ATK to 4000 and lower Ultimatrainer's remaining ATK by 3000, leaving it with 0. Yuma's attack takes out Ultimatrainer, frees Devon and wins the duel. Devon has no memory of what he's done and they realize he doesn't do it on his own free will. Yuma is exhausted and Ray offers to help while making a new permanent friendship with Yuma.
