Episode 65: Sphere of Fear (1)
Mr. Heartland reports Kite's defeat but Dr. Faker doesn't find anything out of place with their plans and orders Mr. Heartland to prepare for finals. Inside some room, Yuma grieves over the loss of Kite, recalling what happened. Astral figures that defeating Vetrix will restore everything Vetrix did and it's more than enough to get Yuma back on his feet. Yuma's friends arrive to wish him luck and all of them join hands. As Yuma heads out, Tori hands him a snack and Yuma promises to win. Both duelists take their places and Mr. Heartland hypes up the duel to no end. In honor of the finals, Yuma and Vetrix will duel in a Sphere Field created by Dr. Faker. While the crowd remains uncertain of what to make of the new dueling field, Vetrix isn't surprised Yuma has made it this far as he's had similar beliefs in Yuma's father. It's also made him realize that friendship is pointless.
Yuma thinks otherwise as he's promised to save Trey and others. However, Vetrix states that Yuma's father has been using Yuma to get his revenge and it seems to sink into Yuma but Yuma wants to duel, even when Dr. Faker's hologram appears. The Sphere Field will let both players Xyz Summon Number monsters using any 2 monsters with the same Level but once those Number monsters are out of Xyz Materials, they're destroyed. Duel preparations get underway before Vetrix draws and uses 2 Heraldic Beast monsters in his hand as Xyz Material for Number 56: Gold Rat (600) in Defense Mode and end his turn. While Yuma is confident he can beat it, Astral wonders if Vetrix's words are true and Yuma says otherwise.
It's enough to convince Astral but neither of them know how to beat Vetrix so Yuma draws and uses Gagaga Magician and Gogogo Golem as Xyz Material for Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja (2400) in Attack Mode. His attack takes out Gold Rat before Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn. Vetrix draws, knowing that Yuma is only going deeper into the trap set and uses Heraldic Beast Twin-Headed Eagle and Aberconway as Xyz Material for Number 10: Illumiknight (2400) in Attack Mode, one of Kite's cards. Next he uses Number 10's effect to detach an Xyz Material, send a card from his hand to the Graveyard, then draw 1 card. Then he uses Aberconway's effect to remove itself from play and retrieve the other copy from the Graveyard.
With that done, he uses Heraldic Beasts Aberconway and Leo as Xyz Material for Acid Golem of Destruction (3000) in Attack Mode. Furthermore, he uses 2 Heraldic Beast Unicorns as Xyz Material for Number 8: Heraldic King Genom-Heritage (2400) in Attack Mode.  After that, he uses Number 8's effect to detach an Xyz Material and adapt Genom-Heritage as Number 12's ATK and name. Yuma is ready to use Number 12's effect but when Astral reminds him that he'll still take damage, Yuma activates Half Guard to prevent Number 12's destruction in battle for that battle and switch it to Defense Mode after the attack, bringing him down to 1600 LPs.  Vetrix attacks Number 12 with Number 30 but Yuma uses Number 12's effect to prevent its destruction in battle.
Vetrix then attacks with Number 10 and Yuma detaches Number 12's last Xyz Material to prevent its destruction in battle but the Sphere Field destroys it by its effect. Yuma draws and uses Flelf and Bacon Saver as Xyz Material for Number 34: Terror-Byte (2900) in Defense Mode. Next, he uses Xyz Treasure to draw 1 card for each Xyz Monster on the field, letting him, draw 4 cards. Then he uses Stinging Swordsman and Amaryllis as Xyz Material for Number 17: Leviathan Dragon (2000) in Attack Mode. Now he uses Zubaba Knight and Rai Rider as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode. It's time for the real battle to begin and it'll be a party for the winner of the duel!
