Episode 59: Rockin' and Rollin'
In the tunnel, Yuma encounters a Cemetery Bomb card and takes damage but it takes Tori's earful words to convince him to make the turn to avoid another Trap Marker. However, Yuma is silent as he recalls what Vetrix has done as well as other events. When he returns to reality, he and Tori are sent down the track to the Desert Field where Nistro is waiting as it's down to just them this round. The duo get on their coasters and begin their duel as Nistro draws and summons Heroic Challenger Double Lance (1700) in Attack Mode. However, due to the Desert Field's effect, players take 200 damage when they Summon a monster in Attack Mode or attack, leaving Nistro down to 3800 LPs. Since HCDL counts as 2 Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon, Nistro uses it as Xyz Material for Heroic Champion - Gandiva (2100) in Attack Mode, taking another 200 damage as a result, bringing his score down to 3600.
Finally he sets 2 cards to end his turn so Yuma draws, knowing he has little to give against Nistro but Nistro activates Heroic Gift to restore Yuma's LPs to 4000 and draw 2 cards since Yuma's score is 2000 or less. Yuma sets a monster and 1 card to end his turn and Astral notes that it won't be enough to win on its own. Knowing Yuma needs an incentive, Nistro draws and plays Heroic Challenger - Night Watchman (1200) in Attack Mode, bringing him down to 3400 by the Desert Field's effect. His attack brings him down to 3200 by DF's effect and destroys Yuma's hidden Mogmole (800) in Defense Mode without damage calculation. However, Yuma uses Mogmole's effect to revive itself by its effect.
Nistro isn't impressed and uses Gandiva's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to destroy Mogmole. His direct attack with Gandiva forces Yuma to activate Battle Break to destroy Gandiva and end the Battle Phase but Nistro counters with Battler's Pride to negate the activation of BB and destroy it since it'd end the Battle Phase. His direct attack resumes, bringing Yuma down to 1900 and himself down to 3000 before he sets 1 card to end his turn. Yuma will have to give his all of he wants to beat Nistro. Astral notes that Yuma is dueling hesitantly due to the events of the recent past and should quit now if that's what is driving him. It's enough to snap Yuma out of it and he draws and summons Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode, bringing his score down to 1700 by DF's effect. Next he equips it with One-Shot Wand, raising its ATK by 800 to 2300.
His attack not only brings him down to 1500 LPs by DF's effect but prompts Nistro to activate Heroic Advance to double HCNW's ATK to 2400 and make it the attack target but prevent both monsters from being destroyed in battle, bringing Yuma down to 1400 LPs. Yuma isn't discouraged and uses OSW's other effect to destroy itself, returning GM's ATK to normal and letting Yuma draw 1 card. It gets him Grandram, which he Special Summons (0000) in Attack Mode since Nistro has an Xyz Monster, bringing him down to 1200 LPs. Next he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Gagaga Cowboy (2400) in Defense Mode, which leaves Nistro disgusted before Yuma uses its effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to deal Nistro 800 damage, brining Nistro down to 2200.
Finally, Yuma sets 2 cards to end his turn and Nistro realizes he has to step it up further because he wanted to duel Yuma not a coward. He equips Gandiva with Xyz Crown to allow it to not only be used as Xyz Material by making it Level 4 but counting as 2 Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon. With that, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Heroic Champion - Kusanagi (2500) in Attack Mode, brining his score down by 200 to 2000 by DF's effect. Yuma pulls over to let Tori off and promises to not only pick her up once he wins but to risk everything to win the duel. After Yuma resumes the duel, Nistro activates Fighter's Charm to switch GC into Attack Mode and make its ATK equal to its DEF of 2400.
His attack brings him down to 1800 LPs and forces Yuma to activate Overlay Buster to give his monster 500 ATK but Nistro uses Kusanagi's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, negate and destroy OB and gain 500 ATK to 3000. His attack resumes and Yuma activates Fighting Fund to prevent either monster's destruction in battle, bringing him down to 600 LPs. Nistro sets 2 cards to end his turn and Yuma considers himself better off as he had only 100 LPs when he first started the duel. However, the track ends and they're sent plummeting to the ground where the Sunset Showdown Field Spell awaits, where the player takes 300 damage when their monster is destroyed but can only attack with one monster at a time. Nevertheless, Yuma draws and uses GC's Attack Position effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, raise its ATK by 1000 and lower Gandiva's ATK by 500 to 2500 and 2000 respectively.
Nistro is ready with Heroic Change but negates it with Kusanagi's effect, giving it 500 ATK to 2500, destroying both monsters and leaving both of them down to 1500 and 300 by SS' effect. However, Nistro activates Xyz Xtreme !! to pay 1000 LPs and force both players to Special Summon an Xyz Monster since an Xyz Monster was destroyed, bringing him down to 500 LPs. He brings out Heroic Champion - Excalibur (2000) in Attack Mode while Yuma Special Summons Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode. Since they're forced to battle, Nistro activates Excalibur's effect (as XX makes the destroyed Xyz Monster Xyz Material for the new monster but they don't tell you that) to double Excalibur's ATK by detaching all its Xyz Materials.) (The real XX doesn't Summon the Xyz Monsters, just forces both players to reveal one if possible and the player with the weaker Xyz Monster takes the difference in their ATKs as damage or the full ATK of the player's revealed Xyz Monster if the other player doesn't reveal one and the real Excalibur requires the player to detach 2 Xyz Materials, which Nistro couldn't do here)
Yuma is ready with Utopia's effect and detaches an Xyz Material from it to negate the attack. As a result, he activates Double or Nothing! to double Utopia's ATK to 5000 and let it attack again since a monster's attack was negated. Yuma's attack connects and Nistro loses. Nistro is in a daze before Yuma comes over and the duo exchage comments on the duel they just had. Nistro comes to and gives Yuma Excaliber if Yuma promises to give it his all in he future duels. Yuma agrees and Nistro is counting Yuma to win the tournament.
