Episode 9: Feline Frenzy
One night, we see a cat outside while a mysterious figure snoops around in Yuma's room with Astral eventually catching on. The figure has accomplished their mission and the next day, Tori and Bronk discuss how Yuma, whom never won a duel before is suddenly winning and Bronk can only explain it with an invisible ghost duelist following Yuma around. Yuma enters in a rather ridiculous outfit and Tori shares that this has been a recurring trend. Even in the mirror, Yuma cannot tell what he's wearing as he generally puts things on while still being half asleep. Astral appears to add that someone had been sneaking around Yuma's room the past few nights and has never been told to inform Yuma about anything.  To settle things, Tori proposes that they have a contest for hottest person between them using the mall and one hour to pick an outfit.
The figure from earlier is now more revealed and appears to be catlike. That night, we find the cat from before only this time many more follow and we seem to be at the catgirl's house. The catgirl instructs her cats to find Tori and deal with her as she has friends whereas the catgirl doesn't. The next day, Tori ends up being late having not immediately decided what to wear and runs into a hoard of cats that end up pouncing on her. At the mall, Yuma is the one on time when the cats arrive and he fakes a story for Astral to log into his observation report before Astral points out that the cats are interested in Yuma not himself. Yuma finds a note in one of the cat's mouths and follows the cats to  rescue Tori.
By the time Yuma arrives, a storm is gathering and the catgirl introduces herself as Cathy Catherine. Astral and Yuma realize that Cathy has always been at Yuma's school but not with friends but Yuma is unfamiliar with her. Cathy agrees to let Tori go should Yuma beat her in a duel and Yuma plans to win whether Cathy has a number or not. Duel preparations get underway before Cathy draws and plays Inviting Cat to add Stray Cat from her Deck to her hand. Next she uses Cat Meeting and summons Stray Cat (100) in Attack Mode. Due to CF's effect, Cathy plays a second Stray Cat in Attack Mode (and both monsters are different, though I also note the fact that the card backs are like past Yu-Gi-Oh series and not like they have been in earlier episodes of this show like at 9:41 into the episode).
Cathy admits that they aren't all that strong and sets 1 card to end her turn. Yuma draws and summons Achacha Archer (1200) in Attack Mode, dealing Cathy 500 damage by its effect, bringing her score down to 3500. However, when Yuma goes to attack, AA can't pick one (and we can see that they're the same card at 10:36 into the episode and were likely colored differently for animating purposes) as Stray Cat prevents any other monster from being attacked while in Attack Mode and with two out in Attack Mode, none of Cathy's monsters can be attacked. Instead, Yuma analyzes his options before using Flip Flap to change the white Stray Cat to Defense Mode (putting it in a box I might add). His attack with AA takes out the gray SC to leave Cathy down to 2400 LPs.
Cathy is not amused that all Yuma thinks about is Tori and claims his focus should be on herself. Next she draws and uses Mysterious Cat Transformation to Special Summon Monster Cat (0000) in Attack Mode since one of her Cat monsters was destroyed. Due to MC's effect, Yuma's AA is destroyed and he takes 800 damage, brining him down to 3200. Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn, assuring that Cathy has his undivided attention. Cathy draws and uses MC's other effect to get Stray Cat, which she summons. Then she uses her monsters as Xyz Material for Twin-Tail Cat Lady (1000) in Attack Mode. After that, she uses TTCL's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to give it 800 ATK to 1800.
After getting complimented on her dueling, Cathy plays the Cat World Field Spell, giving Cat monsters ATK equal to their original ATK, rasing TTCL by 1000 to 2800. Her direct attack with it leaves Yuma down to 400 LPs. However, this is what Yuma wanted and he activates Pixie Gong to Special Summon Joe the Pixie (100) in Attack Mode. Yuma restates his compliments and Cathy is touched because one boy in her class doesn't ever talk to her and she's so shy to tell him that she likes him and Yuma says she should or the boy would never know how she feels. Cathy attempts to go for it but Yuma interrupts her by drawing and discarding Pincono to Special Summon Acorno (200) in Attack Mode. Next, Yuma uses Pinecono's effect to Special Summon itself (400) in Attack Mode. With that done, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Baby Tiragon (900) in Attack Mode. Then he plays Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to make it Level 1.
Now he uses BT's effect to let it attack directly and ignores the fact that Cathy has something to say, bringing Cathy down to 900 LPs. After that, he attacks with BT, then activates Ego Boost to give it 1000 ATK during the battle, raising its ATK to 1900, and lowering TTCL's ATK to its original ATK. (The real card doesn't affect the opponent's monster in any way.) As a result, TTCL is destroyed and Yuma wins, leaving Cathy on the ground but Astral discovers that Cathy had no Number card. Yuma runs to her aid and sees if she's okay but it's time to release Tori but Tori is having fun with the cats using Red Light Green Light and was never in any danger as Yuma discovers. The cats just wanted her to play and Tori couldn't say no.
Cathy appears to say hello before heading off and Yuma explains about their duel but didn't tell Tori (how could he if he didn't know where you were and presumed you were captured?). The mystery of the clothing is going to remain a mystery just like Yuma and Astral notes that Yuma is incapable of understanding females.
