Episode 5: Flipping Out (1)
Outside a market, the store manager advertises half-priced food until another guy comes in and points out that everything is past the expiration date and everyone puts down what they had planned on buying. The manager gets angry and the two have a duel where the other guy activates Ultra C, then summons Grenosaurus (2000) in Attack Mode (though it's unclear how as much of the duel is skipped) and attacks directly to win. However, he then points out that food doesn't expire (which is also false or things like milk wouldn't go bad). As he walks by, things are literally turned upside down. He finds Yuma racing to get home and hatches a scheme to find out how good Yuma is by giving him Baby Tiragon.
The next day, Yuma is still trying to get Bronk and Tori to believe that Astral is really there before the guy from earlier decides to make his move. We learn his name is Flip and he explains himself before offering the Baby Tiragon to Yuma, whom is surprised. However, just as Yuma is about to accept the card, Tori drags him away as they're going to be late for class. A short distance away, Tori and Bronk explain that since they had Flip in their class before, they know he's always no good. In class, while Yuma sleeps, Asteal works his way through the giant maze of gears and machinery, unable to make sense of it. After class, Yuma meet Flip at every corner and every time, Bronk and Tori drag Yuma away.
Flip needs a new strategy and finds Spencer and decides to use him to get to Yuma. At home, Kari isn't happy that Yuma is putting dueling higher than homework and hands Yuma an envelope. Yuma is so excited and when he finally opens it, a hologram appears to get Yuma out to meet them (though it's pretty clear that it's Flip in disguise given the green glasses). In class the next day, Caswell is angry that Yuma would do what is claimed he'd been doing but Yuma is clueless. Only Bronk and Tori support Yuma while the others walk away in disgust. Yuma sits on a bench, unable to cope that virtually the whole school hates him when Flip arrives to take up the opportunity he's given for a duel and sticks a note on Yuma's back.
Astral doesn't like this idea but as usual, Yuma doesn't listen and duel preparations get underway. Flip draws and sets a monster for his turn so Yuma draws and analyzes the monster before playing Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode. His attack reveals Porcupine Fish (400) in Defense Mode and activates its Flip Effect (which isn't necessarily the same thing as being flipped face up because some monsters have effects similar to Flip Effects but are not flip Effects like Guardian Sphinx), dealing Yuma 400 damage, brining his score down to 3600. Since GM has higher ATK, PF is destroyed and Yuma ends his turn. While Bronk and Tori figure out how to get Yuma out of the mess he's in, Flip draws and sets a monster, then 2 cards to end his turn.
Yuma draws and summons Flelf (800) in Attack Mode. His attack reveals and takes out Flip's Chewbone (300) in Defense Mode, activating its effect to Special Summon 3 Chewbone Jrs (100) in Defense Mode. (The real card Special Summons Chewbone Jr Tokens, which is a critical difference as Tokens cannot be Xyz Materials in the CG.) Yuma's direct attack brings Flip down to 2500 LPs and Yuma is about to end his turn but is convinced to use his Chewbone Jrs as Xyz Material for Baby Tiragon (900) in Attack Mode, just a Flip wanted and Astral didn't want.
Yuma isn't convinced that Flip played him for a fool until Flip brings up the disguise from earlier. Not only that but Flip was the one with the fake photos and Yuma adds that he agreed to duel for Flip to get Number 39: Utopia should Yuma lose and thus Astral would fade away. Flip resumes the duel by activating another Ultra C to Special Summon Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode from Yuma's Deck since Yuma Xyz Summoned. Yuma must take on his best monster and it won't be easy!
