Episode 63: Curry Worries

At the dorm, Chazz complains about the food. Hassleberry says they're lucky to have any and suggests they just eat. Chazz isn't interested, saying he's destined for something better. Hassleberry starts on Chazz's food but Chazz isn't willing to give it up and he fights with Hassleberry. Hassleberry smells something and they all exit to see that a man in a rather bizarre outfit tells them soup is served. He tells him he is Don Simon and lets them have the soup if Hassleberry wins the duel but if not, they return to Ra Yellow. In the bushes, Bonaparte says he likes Don's style except for the paper bag. With them back in Ra Yellow, he can easily tear down the Slifer Dorm. (Well except that Chazz is still in Slifer Red.) Alexis says Don's not going anywhere. If they leave the dorm is toast. Don starts the duel with Carrotman (which no one seems to have heard of) (900) in Defense Mode  Next he plays Curry Pot, removing from play any monster sent to the Graveyard. (A card in the CG called "Dimensional Fissure" has the same effect.)

Hassleberry says the carrot looks good and summons Black Stego (1200) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Carrotman, then sets 1 card to end his turn. Don plays Potatoman (900) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Red Pepper Spice, giving his monster 300 ATK and lowering BS's ATK to 900. He attacks but Stego is not destroyed as Hassleberry explains that BS goes to Defense Mode when attacked, leaving Don with 3200. Then he uses Spell Spice Cinnamon, switching the modes of the two monsters. He sets 1 card to end his turn. Hassleberry orders Don to ditch the bag and asks why he's here and who he is. Don says that he already mentioned his name. Hassleberry will unmask him soon enough and tributes BS for Dark Driceratops (2400) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Potatoman, leaving Don with 1600. Don activates Counter Spice Cumin, letting him summon another Spice monster and he chooses Onionman (1200) in Attack Mode.

Hassleberry activates Hunting Instinct, letting him summon a Dino-Type monster since Don Special Summoned a monster and he chooses Black Tyranno (2600) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Onionman, leaving Don with 200. The bag flies off and Don's identity is revealed (which no one but Bastion recognizes) Don says he is headmaster Dorado. Does he need to be loud like Crowler or like Banner who just seemed to disappear. (Obviously he wasn't informed of Banner's ordeal with alchemy.) He's been to many tedious meetings, graduation ceremonies and was even there when Bastion first arrived. So why'd he challenge Hassleberry to this crazy duel? He is all alone. His friends have either graduated to Obelisk Blue or chosen to move to Slifer Red. He hoped that with food he could lure them back to Ra. He tells them to just head back. (So much for the deal about winning the duel and then having them go to Ra Yellow.) Hassleberry tells him he's not going anywhere. Don reminds him of the luxuries of Ra Yellow dorms but Hassleberry says the only thing that matters is his friend Jaden. Don says if he won't take them back by choice, he'll take them back by force. He reveals another effect of Curry Pot, removing from play any monsters still on the field.

With that, he plays Curry Fiend Roo (0000) in Attack Mode. Like most duelists when they see a weak monster, Hassleberry isn't impressed. Dorado explains that for every Spice card removed from play, CFR gains 200 ATK and for every monster removed, he gains 300 ATK for a total of 2400. Hassleberry sets a card to end his turn. Dorado draws and uses Pot of Greed. Next he plays Spell Spice Caraway, inflicting 200 damage to Hassleberry and giving himself 200 LPs for a total of 3800 and 400 respectively. CFR's ATK rises to 2600 with another Spice Card RFG. Then he uses Mix Spice Garamasala, letting him draw 3 more Spice cards. (I bet they meant to say he can add 3 more Spice cards to his hand from his deck because he couldn't know what his next cards are.) He plays 2 Spell Spice Caraway cards, leaving his LPs with 800 and Hassleberry's with 3400 and 1 Red Pepper Spice, giving CFR 300 more ATK with the help of the other Spice cards he activated for a total of 3700. He attacks but Hassleberry activates Survival Instinct, giving him 500 LPs for each Dino-Type monster he removes from play and he chooses the two in his hand.

(The real card only gives the controller 400 LPs and can only remove from play monsters in the Graveyard.) Dorado reminds him that with more monsters removed, CFR's ATK increases. Oops! From 16:19 to 16:21 into the US episode, CFR's DEF is shown rising to 4300 instead of ATK! He continues his attack, leaving Hassleberry with 100. He also explains that RPS loses its effect, returning CFR's ATK to 4000. Hassleberry remembers Jaden's saying about how one thinks a duel's going to end and plays Tyranno Infinity (????) in Attack Mode. Dorado says TI doesn't have any ATK. (Well actually, his ATK is undefined, not 0.) Hassleberry explains that for every Dino-Type monster removed, he gains 1000 ATK for a total of 5000. He attacks and destroys CFR, winning the duel. Bonaparte now sees why Dorado is so forgetful and leaves. Dorado thinks that he'll be alone forever. Hassleberry tells him that they left to be closer to their friends. Dorado says he'll cook whatever they'd like. Hassleberry suggests they eat now. He sure wishes Jaden was here. In the forest, Jaden smells the food and he's starving. He requests to whomever that has the pot-roast to show him the way home.
