Yu-Gi-Oh: The Dark Side of Dimensions (1)
A blinding light appears and several spheres that get in the way are turned to dust before we're taken through space to our home on Earth where Kaiba Corp machines hover above. Down below, Kaiba himself gazes at the Millennium Puzzle before the screen transitions to the movie's title sequence. In Egypt, a large excavation is underway whereby the manager gets no luck finding what he's been told is there, the Millennium Puzzle and orders them to work faster as they're behind schedule. The manager walks away and tries to assure they'll get the item but an approaching helicopter gets his attention and nearly knocks him down. On board, Mokuba, whom is much older now, calls Kaiba to assure they'll find what they seek, presumably the same item Kaiba was staring at earlier. Meanwhile, Yugi comes out of the Game Shop to head out when Solomon stops him to ask about Tea and their supposed routine of walking to school together. Yugi assures it's just a little kids routine and heads out, having already been a bit late.
As Yugi races ahead, an instrumental version of "I'm Back from the original Yu-Gi-Oh series plays and eventually Yugi finds Tea and they get walking on their path. Elsewhere, Joey is also running late, this time for school and is struggling to ride his bike at such high speeds, not to mention unable to properly see where he's going and has a few run-ins along the way. Yugi and Tea arrive just outside school where girls fondle over Bakura, whom eventually answers Yugi's callout to him. Tristan is also racing to get to school when Joey offers him a ride that turns out to be less than smooth but they manage to make it. Later, at lunch, the group discuss their current events like Tea getting into a Study Abroad school. Tristan isn't so thrilled considering his future is working at a factory once he graduates but Joey shows him a potentially worse future as a wrestler by physically strangling him with his own moves.
After Tristan surrenders, Joey admits he still aims to be the top duelist while Yugi has a future as a game designer and help his grandpa at the Game Shop. The group agrees to play Yugi's upcoming top-selling game once it's released and head back inside, only to stop and remember their newest classmate Aigami after several minutes of trying to remember his name. That evening, school has let out and Joey has gotten his Duel Disk back while Yugi has his Deck out (with the actual card info on it I might add) to recall the past events he's had with it. Yugi misses him all the time and recalls the final duel he had with Atem (where the cards have also been redesigned to look like the TCG cards). Yugi just wishes he could've been with Atem a bit longer but it wasn't meant to be. Joey spots trouble as Aigami is under attack from a group of thugs and intervenes. Luckily, thugs head out, leaving instructions for Aigami and aren't interested in fighting Joey Wheeler (though one would've though they would, even if this is aimed at kids).
Aigami gets up, assuring he's fine before remembering all their names, leaving Yugi a bit confused since they already know each other. With that, Aigami heads off but not before Joey lets him know that they can help if the thugs return for more. Aigami assures he'll be fine and walks away, leaving the others to wonder how they do and don't know him. All Joey knows is he's starving and suggests they get food. That night, Aigami follows instructions and arrives at the old factory, much to the thugs' surprise. Scud, the leader, resumes his torment with the cellphone but Aigami is laughing right along with them when the joke is told as he plans to get rid of them for good and reveals his very own cube. The lights explode and the cube is activated, leaving the thugs to face dark spirits with glowing orange eyes as Aigami plans to take the thugs to a new dimension. With that, the thugs vanish starting with Scud. Meanwhile, Atem approaches inside a cathedral where Kaiba already waits, ready to settle their score once and for all.
Duel preparations get underway (revealing that they're using the card game's LP of 8000) before Kaiba draws and uses Polymerization (without saying so) to send his 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons to the Graveyard for Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4500) in Attack Mode to end his turn. Atem draws and uses Dark Magic Veil to pay 1000 LP and Special Summon Dark Magician (whom has a look identical to the special artwork released in Shonen Jump Magazine) (2500) in Attack Mode from his hand, bringing his score down to 7000. Next he uses Thousand Knives to destroy Neo Ultimate Dragons since he controls Dark Magican. However, Kaiba is ready and activates Dark Sacrifice to send Saggi the Dark Clown from his Deck to the Graveyard to negate his monster's destruction. With that, Atem sets 2 cards to end his turn. Kaiba draws and attacks but when the smoke clears, Atem has activated Time Chain to prevent Dark Magician's destruction and lock the two monsters for two turns, bringing him down to 5000 LP.
Kaiba sets 1 card to end his turn, assuring he'll win. Knowing it's a phrase Kaiba has said for years, Atem draws and summoons Celtic Guard of Noble Arms (2100) and Celtic Guardian (1400) in Attack Mode (by Celtic Guard of Noble Arms' effect but they don't tell you that). His attacks take Kaiba down to 4600 LPs and as the duel rages on, Kaiba shares his thoughts of how things have been up until this point. Kaiba draws and Normal Summons Kaiser Vorse Raider (1900) in Attack Mode without Tribute (since he controls no monsters but they don't tell you that) and takes out Celtic Guardian, leaving Atem down to 4500 LPs as well. Kaiba sets 1 card to end his turn so Atem draws and gets his Dark Magician back since Time Chain's effect expired. Next he uses Magical Dimension to Tribute Celtic Guard of Noble Arms, Special Summon Dark Magician Girl (whose pentagram remains untouched) (2000) in Attack Mode, then destroy Kaiser Vorse Raider. Atem's direct attacks prompts Kaiba to activate Induced Explosion to free his Neo Ultimate Dragon from Time Chain and counterattack.
Atem is ready and activates Dimension Reflector to banish his two monsters, create a copy of Neo Ultimate Dragon and then deal Kaiba damage equal to the Trap Monster's ATK. Kaiba was aware he was being set-up and activates Enhanced Counter to convert the damage to his monster's ATK, putting it at 9000. Kaiba's counterattack wins the duel but it was only a simulation and Kaiba wants to beat Atem for real. He takes his anger out on the very bottle of water he drank frum and wants the inventor fired as it bends too easily. Mokuba chimes in to report that they've found the Millennium Puzzle. At a mall, while others walk around, Yugi and crew are gathered at a table with Duke Devlin as Tristan works to "fix" Joey's Duel Disk. Yugi is focused on an article about the disappearing people and Duke only adds to the mystery.
Kaiba interrupts them with an announcement regarding his new technology. Joey, revealed to be inside the dog suit knows he'd have to shell out a pretty penny for the new Duel Disk and decides to use his "broken" Duel Disk as the excuse for Tristant to buy it for him. The two get into a fight that causes a little girl to lose her balloon and Joey's boss to lose his temper. Aigami is watching from above and recalls the prophecy regarding Atem.
