Episode 14: A Spirit Summoned

At DA, Jaden can't believe everyone left for winter break. All the more dueling and cafeteria food for themselves. Inside the woods, an Obelisk Blue student is running, yelling for someone to help him. He can't believe that thing is  alive and took his friends! Back at the dorm, Jaden and Syrus are dueling and Jaden summons Elemental Hero Clayman, whom gets the usual card art change but I won't show it. A marshmallow bursts in front of Pharaoh and he shrieks. The student, now panting, makes it out of the woods and crashes through the window of Jaden and Syrus' dorm.

He looks like he's seen a ghost and the student says he has, Jinzo the dueling card. Jaden suggests to Banner that the student should see the school nurse but Banner replies he knows him from his para-dueling class as Tori. Tori explains that he saw Jinzo while going to board the ferry and ran off. Jinzo finds him and takes off with him. Jaden and the gang chase after him and they find an electrical plant with Jinzo nowhere to be found but they find Tori. Jaden races over to Tori but Jinzo blocks his path. He tells Jinzo he wants to duel. A duel? Jinzo questions. He should last long enough to survive a match!

Jinzo starts with Malice Doll of Demise (1600) in Attack Mode. Then he activates Ectoplasmer, allowing both players to sacrifice a monster at the end of the turn and half of its ATK is dealt to the opponent as damage. (The real card can only tribute face up monsters and the player doesn't have a choice whether or not to tribute a monster.) He tributes Doll of Demise, putting Jaden's score to 3200. It's a Continuous Spell Card, meaning that Jinzo can use it every turn but then, so can Jaden. Jaden draws and summons Elemental Hero Avian (1000) in Attack Mode, (whom gets a card art change for US).

Next he plays Mirage of Nightmare, letting him draw 4 cards during his opponents turn but during his next turn, he has to discard 4.He directly attacks Jinzo with Avian, reducing his LPs to 3000. Next he tributes Avian using Ectoplasmer, dropping Jinzo's LPs to 2500. Now he has a game! A game Jaden will soon lose! Since Malice Doll of Demise was sent to the Graveyard by a Spell Card, it automatically is Special Summoned. (The real card is only Special Summoned if sent to the Grave by a Continuous Spell effect.) Speaking of Spells, Jaden gets to draw 4 cards, three of which have been changed for US as shown at 9:21 into the episode.

Next he activates one of his face down cards, Emergency Provisions, which he'll have to sacrifice Mirage of Nightmare. His LPs rise to 4200. Jinzo summons Emissary of the Afterlife (1600) in Attack Mode. He attacks but Jaden activates A Hero Emerges, forcing Jinzo to pick a random card in Jaden's hand and it it's a monster, Jaden can summon it. Jinzo picks Elemental Hero Sparkman, which Jaden summons (1600) in Attack Mode. Both monsters are destroyed and Jinzo explains that they can pick a monster and add it to their hand. (The real card can only add level 3 or less Normal Monsters to the hand.) Jaden picks Burstinatrix. Jinzo attacks directly with Doll of Demise, reducing Jaden's score to 2600, then tributes MDoD, putting Jaden's LPs to 1800.

Chumley notices Jaden's legs are disappearing and Jinzo explains that since he's lost half his points, he's taken half his life force. (Actually he's lost more than half his LPs because 2000 is half.) Jaden's not going to let Jinzo take him and summons Elemental Hero Clayman (800) in Attack Mode. Next he plays another of his face downs, Clay Wrap. Then he uses Poly to summon Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster (2000) in Attack Mode. Since Clayman went to the Graveyard, so did Clay Wrap, letting him destroy a Spell Card Jinzo controls, like Ectoplasmer. Now he won't take damage from Jinzo tributing monsters! (Although he could've just tributed RB after attacking and won.)

He attacks directly, putting Jinzo's score to 500. He sets a card and ends his turn. Jinzo draws and says he couldn't have asked for a better card as he revives Malice Doll then tributes it for Jinzo (2400) in Attack Mode. He can't draw himself! "I just did" Jinzo says and now he can attack Jaden personally. He attacks and destroys Rampart Blaster, reducing Jaden's LPs to 1400. Jaden summons Wroughtweiler (1200) in Defense Mode and ends his turn. Jinzo summons Spirit Caller (1000) in Attack Mode. He attacks and destroys Wroughtweiler, allowing Jaden to add Polymerization and Clayman to his hand. Jinzo direct attacks with Spirit Caller, leaving Jaden's score at 400. Finally, Jinzo plays Amplifier, allowing him to activate Trap Cards.

Jaden draws and uses Pot of Greed, giving him 2 cards. Then he summons Elemental Hero Bubbleman (0800) in Attack Mode. Then he equips Bubbleman with Bubble Blaster, giving Bubbleman 800 ATK, putting his ATK at 1600. He attacks and destroys Spirit Caller but that activated Jinzo's face down card, Spirit Barrier, preventing Jinzo from taking damage while there is a monster on his field. Next Jaden uses Fairy of the Spring, letting him return an Equip Spell Card to his hand and he chooses Clay Wrap. Jinzo attacks Bubbleman but Jaden explains that when Bubbleman is attacked while equipped with Bubble Blaster, Bubble Blaster is destroyed instead.

It buys him one turn, hopefully it's all Jaden needs! He plays Clayman in Attack Mode, equips him with Clay Wrap and uses Poly to bring out Elemental Hero Mudballman (1900) in Attack Mode. Since Clay Wrap was sent to the Graveyard, Jaden can use it to destroy Amplifier and since Amplifier is destroyed, so is the equipped monster! Jinzo won't let it end like this! He activates Call of the Haunted to revive himself from the Graveyard but Jaden activates Solemn Judgment, which negates and destroys the card Jinzo activated at a cost of half his LPs, leaving him with 200. He attacks directly, wiping out the rest of Jinzo's LPs. A light emits from the attack and expands outwards. When they awaken, they see that everyone is back. Jaden thinks it's best that they don't remember and insists that they sleep it off.
