Episode 31: Keith's Machinations (1) | |||
Still inside the playoffs room, Croquet announces the results as well as the next match and Joey is already tense. Yugi isn't happy after Pegasus claps and congratulates him in his victory, thinking there will be nothing to be happy about when he defeats Pegasus. He steps outside to find Joey and the two discuss their plans for the possibility of facing each other. They'll make it an honorable match. Joey steps back inside but is shocked to see Bandit Keith not even on his side of the dueling arena. BK is actually on the nearby couch when the two are asked to show their verification cards. Naturally, BK shows his but Joey can't find his and is given only 5 minutes, barely enough time to return into the room. While Joey darts back to his room, BK is given the green light to take off his boots but is warned about being disqualified if not at the arena within the same time limit. BK arrives but with only a minute left, Joey hasn't found the card. He came close but after all his work, he's going to get disqualified for losing a lousy card? Mai arrives, giving Joey something to help get something out of his eye (which we know isn't the reason he's crying). To his surprise, it's Mai's entry card inside the cloth and she lets him keep it since she doesn't need it anymore (IRL, this would've definitely gone past the 1 minute remaining). He makes it back to the arena with only a second to spare and BK isn't happy, given that he's using Joey's card. BK begins with a monster in Defense Mode. Joey does the same so BK flips his hidden monster, Pendulum Machine (1750) to Attack Mode and takes out Joey's hidden Battle Warrior (1000) in Defense Mode. Joey plays Giltia the Knight (Giltia the D. Knight in the CG) (1850) in Attack Mode and attacks but to no avail as Keith explains magic attacks don't work on Machine-Type monsters (no such thing in the CG). BK plays Launcher Spider (2200) in Attack Mode and takes out GtK, leaving Joey down to 1650 LPs.
Joey sets 1 monster and 1 card face down for his turn. BK tries does the same but not before the group get a glimpse of the non-Machine-Type monster Zoa. While Joey continues the duel with Flame Swordsman (which we can see is now a Normal Monster for once at 14:28 into the episode and the real card is a Fusion Monster) (1800) in Attack Mode and equips it with Salamandra, raising its ATK by 700 to 2500. It's too late for the group to stop Joey's attack declaration, which activates BK's hidden Magic Metal Force (Metalmorph in the CG), turning the hidden Zoa into Metalzoa (3000) in Attack Mode and deflecting Joey's attack on his own monster (this isn't true with the real card for you can't target face down monsters with it), leaving Joey's monster destroyed and Joey's score down to 1150. BK uses Stop Defense to put Joey's hidden Axe Raider (1700) to Attack Mode and attacks but his monster disappears into a giant hole from Joey's Chasm of Spikes card, destroying Metalzoa and dealing Keith damage equal to 1/4 of his monster's ATK, leaving him down to 1250 LPs. Joey takes his turn by setting 1 card, which he outright states is a Trap Card before playing Garoozis (1800) in Attack Mode and taking out PM, leaving Keith down to 1200 LPs. BK thinks it 's a bluff and attacks but Joey activates Kunai with Chain, giving his monster 500 ATK to 2300 and keeping LS at bay but it gets destroyed, leaving BK himself down to 1100, making Keith VERY angry. No one beats Bandit Keith! |
