Episode 23: Face-Off (2)

As the group watches the duel, Tea` can't see any difference in Kaiba at all. Bandit Keith can see that both duelists are going at it and he has the best seat in the house. Yu-Gi-Oh can see the change in Kaiba from toying with his opponent to being about business. Kaiba designates his La Jinn with De-Spell to destroy Yu-Gi-Oh's hidden Swords of Revealing Light. (The real card cannot be combined with a monster when activated.) Yu-Gi-Oh brings out Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode.

Next he activates his hidden The Eye of Truth card to reveal Kaiba's hand and is stunned to see an unplayed Blue-Eyes (not to mention both of Kaiba's previously played cards De-Spell and Ancient Lamp are still there). Yu-Gi-Oh activates Mystic Box to get rid of Kaiba's Ancient Lamp card while leaving his DM unharmed. (The real Mystic Box only can destroy monsters and you must give the monster selected that you own to your opponent.) Yu-Gi-Oh's attack takes out La Jinn to leave Kaiba's score down to 800. Kaiba doesn't need to see Yu-Gi-Oh's hand but does think that Yu-Gi-Oh needs to be taught a lesson, thinking to use his Saggi + Crush Card combo. Oops! Crush Card is a Spell Card in the US at 7:57 into the episode! Kaiba plays Saggi the Dark Clown (1500) in Defense Mode, not what Yu-Gi-Oh had expected.

Deciding not to risk his Dark Magician, he exchanges it for Gaia the Fierce Knight (2300) in Attack Mode and attacks but Saggi was actually sacrificed for Kaiba's Crush Card, destroying all of Yu-Gi-Oh's monsters in his hand, field and Deck with 1500 or more ATK. (The real card is called Crush Card Virus and it only has this effect for 3 of your opponent's turns.) Looks like he's broken the heart of Yu-Gi-Oh's cards. Yu-Gi-Oh beat Kaiba last time but Kaiba didn't have a Crush Card that forces Yu-Gi-Oh to play only Spell and Monster Cards (Trap Cards too, Bakura). Yu-Gi-Oh draws Summoned Skull (which appears to already be infected based on the extra holographic lines on it) but because of the CC, he's forced to play Silver Fang (800) in Defense Mode. Kaiba draws his 2nd BEWD before bringing out Battle Ox (1700) in Attack Mode and taking out Yu-Gi-Oh's SF. For his turn, Yu-Gi-Oh plays Griffore (1200) in Attack Mode and equips it with Horn of the Unicorn, raising its ATK by 700 to 1900, enough to take out BO and leave Kaiba down to 600.

If there's one thing Kaiba learned with his matches with Yu-Gi-Oh it's that Yu-Gi-Oh can snatch victory from the jaws of defeat but he's not about to let that happen today and activates Mystical Elf, raising his LPs by 300 to 900 (The real card's name is Gift of the Mystical Elf and in case you can't tell, the card gives the player 300 Life Points per monster on the field). Next he plays Blue-Eyes White Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode and takes out Yu-Gi-Oh's powered up Griffore to leave Yu-Gi-Oh down to 400 LPs. Yu-Gi-Oh declares that he'll defeat BEWD again by playing Giant Soldier of Stone (2000) in Defense Mode. At last, Kaiba draws and uses Polymerization to bring out Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4500) in Attack Mode. BK figures Yu-Gi-Oh is done for but Tea` still thinks Yu-Gi-Oh will mount a comeback.  Kaiba's attack takes out Yu-Gi-Oh's monster and Yu-Gi-Oh needs some convincing to keep going and everything comes down to Yu-Gi-Oh's next draw. It's time for them to finish this duel!
