Episode 49: Mark of the Monkey (3)

At the duel, Yusei realizes that everything is in place for the arrival of an Earthbound Immortal and thanks to Closed Forest, Devak's Zeman the Ape King gains 100 ATK per Beast-Type monster in his Graveyard, raising its ATK by 500 to 3000. In the spirit world, Luna tries unsuccessfully to calm the corrupted Regulus and even after Torunka explains things, Regulus isn't any different. A misconception leads Regulus to believe that Luna wants a fight but Torunka sees the source of the corruption, a minuature wand around one of the legs and realizes that Regulus only picks up the opposite of what he's told. Regulus gives chase and Torunka decides to fight opposite with opposite by being mean to Regulus but to no avail. Regulus' train of thought changes when he feels a presence coming. It's The Collectors and they want him but he won't go without a fight.

One of them considers using the Minus Staff but with one already on Regulus, the effects will be negated and return Regulus to normal so Regulus bolts but while the monkeys give chase, Luna and Torunka now have the plan to save Regulus. While in the forest, the monkeys lose track of Regulus and agree to split up only to find Luna waiting for them as a decoy to get the Minus Staff, which works without a hitch. They move on and find Regulus, whom at first seems to obey commands but sees right through their ploy and attacks, only to have his current Minus Staff negated by Luna's, destroying the log bridge and sending all three of them into the river. Back at the duel, Devak attacks with Zeman the Ape King but Leo uses Break! Draw!'s effect to send itself to the Graveyard and negate the attack (it's actually Power Tool Dragon's effect that saves itself by sending the Equip Spell to the Graveyard) but still taking Battle Damage, leaving Leo down to 2500 LPs.

Finally he sets 2 cards to end his turn.

Leo realizes how much he needs Luna and calls out to her. Luna hears his cries but is still sent down the waterfall with Torunka and Regulus. However, Luna's quick thinking saves them from the full plunge with the Minus Staff. On the ground, Regulus admits he was all confused thanks to the Minus Staff and knew Luna and Torunka would come. Back at the duel, Leo is really getting tired but uses PTD's effect and gets Megamorph, which he equips to PTD but with his and Devaks' LPs equal, the card's effect is not applied. This is a huge letdown for Leo as it's one of his best cards but Yusei gets him to remain focused as Leo switches PTD to Defense Mode to end his turn. While Leo waits to see what Devak has planned next, Luna comes to grips with what Regulus is telling her, including the whereabouts of Ancient Fairy Dragon.

The group hop on Regulus' back and ride away. At his castle, Zeman himself announces the impending takeover of the Minus Curse and a pillar of light rises from below. As Regulus, Luna and Torunka watch, the sky is less friendly and a giant Minus Staff is making things flip all around them.As they race ahead, Luna needs Leo to help stop Zeman but he's busy with the duel as Devak draws and attacks, activating Roaring Earth to give Beast-Type monsters piercing damage when they attack a monster in Defense Mode. His attack not only brings Leo down to 2000 LPs but weakens PTD by 300 to 2000. (The real card lowers the ATK and DEF of the monster by 500.) He sets 1 card to end his turn. Meanwhile, the trio arrive at Zeman's castle where Zeman learns of Regulus' capture and offers a banana reward for those responsible. However, it's not a guard but a wizard that captured Regulus. The trio come within feet of Zeman himself and show what the staff can do. What Luna says next isn't fully convincing Zeman but does intrigue him as he listens to what follows. It works and Ancient Fairy Dragon is freed. They'll save AFD or get petrified trying!
