Episode 16: The Scars of Defeat

One night, Kaiba arrives on the island by helicopter, jarring everyone on the groun from their sleep. Yugi gives Kaiba his Deck back but Joey cannot stand to see Kaiba behave this way in spite of everything Yugi had done for him and demands a Duel. Kaiba accepts if Joey is willing to use the prototype Duel Disk. Joey agrees to the terms but quickly falls behind as none of his monsters stand up to Kaiba's. Finally, Joey brings out his prized monster and takes down a monster but it's no match for Kaiba's prized monster and it costs him the Duel. Afterwards, Kaiba recalls what Pegaus is capable of.

The Intercontinental Championship was a match Kaiba won't soon forget as it featured champion Duelist Bandit Keith and Maximillion Pegasus. While Keith feels he has the road to victory, Pegasus calls on a boy from the audience named Sam to Duel in his place using instructions from a note he'd written. Sam makes his move just as the instructions said and fortold about Keith's card. It costs Bandit Keith the championship. Pegasus knows Kaiba is coming for him but isn't willing to share which way the hunt will go.

Deviations from the TCG
1. Players started with only 2000 LP and could Normal Summon monsters of any Level without Tributing.
2. Red-Eyes B. Dragon was called "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" in the Dub.
3. Rock Ogre Grotto #1 was called "Smashing Rock" in the Dub.
4. Flame Swordsman was played like a Normal Monster in the Dub (and was one in the Japanese)
5. Spellbinding Circle also lowered the affected monster's ATK by 700.
Errors
1. Rock Ogre Grotto was in Attack Mode on Joey's field yet Joey isn't shown to take any damage. This implies either the monster was extra and/or was in Defense Mode without being shown as such.

2. Kaiba is wearing a Dueling Glove during a scene even though he never had one.
